Fish or Chips - Frequently asked questions
1. What if a player accidentally looks at one of their fish-or-chips cards when setting up the game?
They must replace it with another card from the fish-or-chips deck. If the deck runs out, shuffle and redistribute 5 fish-or-chips cards to everyone. And if anyone does this on purpose, they should go to the corner of the room and stare at the wall for 15 minutes, pondering about their life decisions and how people don’t like people who cheat on games.
2. If 3 of my 5 fish-or-chips cards are Mad Fish cards, but there is a Golden Knight card on one of them, am I still out?
No, the Golden Knight card completely cancels the Mad Fish card, so it doesn’t count towards eliminating you.
3. If I draw a Golden Knight card as an effect of a Mad Fish card being revealed, can I place it on top of that Mad Fish card or other Mad Fish cards from previous turns?
No, the Golden Knight card can only cancel Mad Fish cards that are revealed when it is already in your hand.
4. Can I resolve the effects of all special cards discarded due to Queen Potato or Triple Chips cards?
No, you only resolve the effects of the last card discarded during this play.
5. It’s going to be my turn, but the player before me discarded a Chips for Everyone card, making me draw a card. Is it still going to be my turn?
Yes, the Chips for Everyone effect doesn’t affect turns.
6. What if a Sir Fries card is revealed for me but I don’t have any of the four numbers that appear on its flags?
You lose the opportunity to use the effect, and the game continues normally.
7. If I use a Golden Knight’s special effect, do I place it directly on top of the Mad Fish card?
Yes, Golden Knight cards used to cancel Mad Fish cards go directly on top of them.
8. With the Fish-or-Chips Time card with the special icon, can I choose any player and skip the turns of the people between us?
Yes, everyone between you and your target will lose their turn, with the turn continuing with the player to the left of your target.
9. Am I forced to swap a card with a player if I have discarded a Spy Fry card?
No, you can always choose to not swap anything.
10. When I discard a Spy Fry card, can I look at the hands of multiple players?
No, you can only look at the cards of a single opponent.
11. Am I forced to discard as many cards as indicated by the Triple Chips card?
No. When discarding a Triple Chips card, you can discard 3, 2, 1 or even 0 cards after it.
12. Is the Triple Chips card included in the count of the number it indicates?
No. You can discard up to 3 more cards AFTER you discard it.
13. If a player has flipped all their ‘Fish or Chips’ cards and I use the ‘Fish or Chips Time’ card on them, what happens?
If a player has already flipped all five of their ‘Fish or Chips’ cards and becomes the target of the ‘Fish or Chips Time’ card, they can continue to play as usual by discarding cards, as it will have no impact on them
